General Star traces its roots to 1864 in The Eureka Fire & Marine Insurance Company of Ohio, the predecessor company of General Star National Insurance Company. Today, the General Star companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of General Reinsurance Corporation, a Berkshire Hathaway Company.
