Gene Meadows

Architectural and fine art photographer, Gene Meadows has an emotional, and simplistic approach to composing images, balancing visual elements to create graphic impact. He cut his teeth in the automotive studios of Detroit, absorbing lessons in lighting, as highly polished steel was lit up to sparkle. Later, studying at the Center for Creative Studies, Meadows began to understand the reason behind the "magic" he absorbed in the car studios. In 1994, he added a new dimension to his photography with a fine art gallery exhibit "Chiaroscuro" black & white architectural photographs of Eastern Europe. These images created several opporunities: fine art commissions from corporate clients, a line of note cards in upscale specialty shops, and purchase of fine art images by private as well as museum collections. Meadows is driven to retain the excitement of being a perpetual "student" of creativity, to always keep a sharp edge, explore and be hungry for knowledge. Inspired by a corporate commission to create a series of twenty images of chairs, Meadows explored a process in the darkroom to archivally infuse vibrant passionate colors into the black & white photographs, from colbat blue to raspberry red. The result was "Chairs," a one-man show in 1997 expressing the bridge from commercial to the fine art community.
