Description

When General Chemical was founded in 1899, among its first products was aluminum sulfate (alum), a chemical that would come to be used extensively in the pulp and paper industry due to its versatility. Today we are the largest alum producer in North America with manufacturing sites near papermaking centers. We have expanded our paper chemicals product line, enhanced our technical support, distribution and customer service systems, and our commitment to quality. Since today's mills require top quality papermaking chemicals, that's what you consistently get from General Chemical.

General Chemical manufactures a broad line of organic and inorganic chemicals for a wide variety of industries and applications. Our products include aluminum sulfate, aluminum chlorohydrate, and ferric sulfate for water treatment applications. We offer various grades of sulfuric acid as well as provide sulfuric acid regeneration services to the refining and chemical industries.

With nearly 50 North American production facilities, General Chemical delivers high-quality products where and when they are needed. We stand behind our products with solid technical support. We are one of the leading producers across every business we service.

General Chemical manufactures a number of products that are approved for use in the food and beverage industry. Our production facilities carry certifications from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, National Food Processors of America, and Orthodox Union (kosher).

We are active in the regeneration of spent sulfuric acid for the refining and chemical industries as well as providing such services as pollution abatement and sulfur recovery for refineries.
