Genesee Land Trust is the local, not-for-profit land trust in the Greater Rochester region working to protect open space for public benefit. Founded in 1989, Genesee Land Trust is one of 1600 land trusts nationwide. The Trust is funded primarily by membership dues and contributions. Working in Monroe and Wayne Counties, and portions of Ontario, Genesee, Livingston, and Orleans Counties, we preserve land that includes native plant and wildlife habitat, wetlands, farmland, waterways, and scenic and recreational areas. Genesee Land Trust preserves land by: - acquiring special lands and forming nature preserves, - partnering with private land owners who want their lands preserved forever to form conservation easement properties, and
