Genigraphics not only pioneered computer graphics creation and imaging, we successfully conducted business online a full decade before the Internet and e-commerce became the business tools they are today. In the early 1970's, NASA asked General Electric Corporation to develop a system that could create thousands of graphic images for their flight simulators. GE designed and produced state-of-the-art computer-graphics workstations and film recorders, and in 1979, spun off the product line under the name Genigraphics. By the mid-80's, Genigraphics had 23 production facilities staffed with artists who created high-impact slides and overhead transparencies for virtually all of the Fortune 500 companies. In 1986, PowerPoint Corporation recognized Genigraphics' expertise in computer-generated presentation graphics, and asked the company to help develop their desktop presentation software.
