Description

While unmanned systems have been providing useful services for decades, it is only been in the last decade that advances in computing, battery power and materials technologies are enabling increasingly rapid growth in unmanned systems capabilities and thus applications. Isis Geomatics Inc. is a dynamic multi-faceted company which provides industry with a variety of solutions. The Isis team members have a vast background in agriculture, oil and gas, surveying, GIS and remote sensing making Isis the complete package. Isis Geomatics Inc. uses a Quadcopter UAV platform to accomplish many of its tasks providing high-resolution imagery & video to satisfy the needs of industry. The Isis team has an array of sensor packages including; near infrared, thermal, visual, HD video and zoom video. The processing expertise possessed within Isis creates the ability to tackle a wide range of applications. The imagery provided by Isis can be implementing in GIS, mapping and planning programs giving the individuals involved a visual aid to project.

Mr. Bob MacPhail is an experienced C.A that has worked in Lethbridge for over 25 years, retiring as a full partner at MNP. Bob has taken on an advisory role with Isis to provide business management, tax advice, and corporate planning. We are lucky to have Bob on our team, as he has advised small and medium business' for many years.

Aerial imagery and remote sensing can help reduce costs and maximize yields on high value crops by providing timely imagery to the producer. Water and fertilizer can now be placed in the areas needed, and using Infra-red (IR) imagery crops can be monitored at a cellular level. Areas of need can be identified using IR imagery days ahead of using only visual imagery for plant nutriment and stress mapping. Vegetation index maps can be made using multi bands of imagery, these maps are called Normalized Difference Vegetation Index's or NDVI's. NDVI's can help the producer monitor areas of stress, low soil water, biomass production, and vegetation percent cover. High resolution imagery of ~5 cm can be delivered to the producer of agronomist several times a week to help develop a very accurate prescription for the field. Imagery and NDVI maps can be produced much more accurately, frequently, and at a lower cost than through the use to satellites or manned aircraft.

Mr. Owen Brown is currently the other co-owner/operator of Isis Geomatics based in Lethbridge. Isis was founded in 2011 and began fulltime operations in 2012, and now has over 40 flight hours to our credit. Owen is also completing a Master of Science degree in Geography at the University of Lethbridge, Owen’s research involved the use of LiDAR, to answer questions surround near surface fluid energy exchanges. Owen completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Lethbridge where he received a B.Sc. in Geography with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
