Company History and Overview Geophysical Survey Systems, Inc was literally born in an atomic explosion over 35 years ago. EG&G (Edgerton, Germeshausen & Grier) had a contract from the Atomic Energy Commission to electronically monitor the atomic bomb tests in New Mexico. Rex Morey and Art Drake were among those in the underground bunkers manning the instrumentation. Early on, it became clear that the Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) from the blasts easily passed through the ground and directly into the buried instrument room.
