Sue has a master's degree in social work and is currently practicing as a Certified Social Worker. She is the Bereavement/Outreach Coordinator for Gillies Funeral Chapel. Sue has worked as a local Hospice Social Worker with children, teens and adults who are grieving for over 14 years. She has also had a personal experience related to experiencing loss and grief in her life, as her husband, Darrell, died of brain cancer 16 years ago leaving her as a young widow to raise 5 children.

BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Shirley Ann Nelson Jenson, 94, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014. She was born on January 23, 1920 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, a daughter of Edgar Lyman and Talula Johanna Frandsen Nelson. She was reared in Mount Pleasant working on the family sheep farm with her brothers and sisters. Shirley graduated from North Sanpete High School where she was the valedictorian. She then graduated from Utah State Agricultural College with a Bachelors in English and Masters Degrees in Physical Education and Library Science. Shirley met her husband Alfred Calvin Jenson, who had just returned home from World War II. She was teaching and coaching in the Physical Education Department at Utah State. They were married on September 16, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Cal and Shirley were married for more than 60 years. Shirley was an educator her entire life. She taught students in Logan, Utah; Soda Springs, Idaho; Long Beach, California; and Green River, Utah. She was a teacher for more than 35 years before retiring from Box Elder Junior High School.
