Gilman’s is owned and operated by Marty Dlugatz and his wife, Linda. Most of the key staff members have been at Gilman’s for more than 20 years and are experienced in the intricacies of stain removal, pressing and customer service. We have always used an environmentally friendly cleaning solvent that is safe to both your garments and your health. We take pride in our work and can assure our customers that every effort is made to return your garments looking like new.

Gilman Cleaners was founded in 1925 by Harry Gilman, the current owner’s grandfather. It’s original location was on East Main Street in Middletown, not too far from the central fire house. The business quickly outgrew this location and Harry’s son, Ben Gilman (former U.S. Congressman) travelled the country in the 1940’s looking at other cleaning facilities. He worked with the architect to incorporate these ideas into the new, state-of-the art, 13,000 square foot building. That building opened its doors in 1948 and was operated by Harry’s daughter, Claire and her husband, Lou Dlugatz. In 1966, the current owner, Marty Dlugatz, joined his parents after graduating from college and serving in the military.
