GKY&A was founded in 1975 by Dr. Ken Young, PE, as a specialized civil engineering, mathematical modeling, and environmental science firm. Our principal disciplines are civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, water resources, and related computer sciences. For over twenty years, GKY&A has been studying, devising and automating solutions for practical problems in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, water resources, and environmental analysis.GKY&A has contacts in academia, public consulting, and Government service. The 1970s' projects supported the National Water Quality Commission, EPA, and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in the areas of water quality, mathematical modeling, and transportation-related hydraulic guidance reports. Over the years, we have diversified into hydraulic systems applications development. These applications have put us in touch with local clients, utilities and include software and training for the DOT and other Federal agencies and planning models for water supply. In addition, we have been managing the National Hydraulics Laboratory of the Federal Highway Administration.The GKY&A-developed suite of computer programs called HYDRAIN has benefited state and local highway engineers as well as academic researchers. HYDRAIN's application programs are primarily targeted to the PC environment. We often use them to meet a client's needs, but we are capable users of virtually all of the major conventional hydraulic and water quality models.
