In 1999 a concept was born around a simple, yet obvious notion that law enforcement officers in the United States were being deployed to environments without proper training. GDS' predecessor was formed to provide specialized instruction to support operations in extreme environments, such as high altitudes, rough water, extreme cold, and desert conditions. This training has since become ubiquitous in the homeland security and defense communities around the world. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, GDS was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratories to provide a unique training program to protect critical infrastructure. GDS instructors trained thousands of stakeholders, engineers, facility managers, and security consultants in the proper techniques for protecting water utilities, power systems, chemical facilities, airports, seaports and more. As one of the market leaders specializing in infrastructure protection, GDS was propelled into the world market providing our "total solution" approach for security. Beyond performing assessments on critical infrastructure in all markets, we offer complete design / build services and have supported some of the leading A/E firms providing physical protection systems for complex infrastructure projects.
