Yes, brothers and sisters we made wrong choices down through the ages. Our choices brought sickness, death and alienation, but God loves us in spite of our bad choices. God needed to find a way to convey this love to us. He did not write in the sky " I love you" or come as a king in regal splendor. That would have been too overpowering. We would have chosen God, not out of love, but out of self interest. God seldom intervenes in laws of Cause and Effect. When He does, we call it a Miracle. God said "I will become man and I will show my people how much I love them". Jesus the Christ, the son of God, yet truly man, was born of a woman in a small village, to walk the earth, suffer, be tempted, and to die on a cross. To those who loved Him, He showed His risen body as a first fruit of the world to come. We now can know that because of his son, God does love us. He humbled himself and went to great pains to show us. We therefore freely choose to love God in return and when we freely choose, in faith, to love Him, He lives within us. He teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
