Description
Ashland, Oregon is located 14 miles north of California and is conveniently located just off the I-5 corridor. Nestled in the Rogue Valley with a population just under 20,000, Ashland sits at about 2,000 feet above sea level. With Mt. Ashland and Mt. Shasta close by, Ashland residents and visitors find all sorts of things to do in the snow. Emigrant Lake is located approximately six miles from downtown and offers a great spot for fishing and watersports. For theatre goers, Ashland is the place to be. Home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Ashland boasts nine other theatre groups, which perform a wide variety of productions, including musicals, comedies and experimental theatre throughout the year. Ashland is also home to Southern Oregon University. With approximately 4,600 undergraduate students from all areas, it offers a diverse campus with incredible intimacy. Although the weather is fairly mild, Ashland does have four distinct seasons. The hills across the valley turn green with the spring rains and golden brown in the summer's heat. Fall brings crisp days and chilly nights along with leaves turning colors, and in the winter, when it snows, the hills are beautiful. Summer highs are typically in the 80's with lows in the 50's, however, we do see approximately six weeks of highs in the 90's. In August, if we are lucky, we may even see a few days in the 100's. Winters in Ashland usually run in the mid 40's as a high and lows are in the 30's. ...
