Description
Located in Dunn, NC., Good Roads is a leading manufacturer of American made Steel and stainless steel snow removal equipment. Good Roads, whom is owned by Godwin Manufacturing, is the originator of the modern snow plow. This family owned and operated business is part of the largest privately held truck equipment manufacturing company (The Godwin Group) in the US.
Godwin manufactures 4 basic dump body models that can be used on class 2 through 8 truck chassis. A variety of options are available to customize each body to suit your needs. Godwin protects your investment better than anyone in the industry with its standard thermoset powder coat zinc primer under a thermoset powder coat topcoat. Godwin also manufactures a range of hydraulic hoists specially designed for your body.
Godwin manufactures true rollback style steel and aluminum carriers operating on 5" and 6" bronze-bushing rollers, resulting in years of trouble free performance. Whether you're hauling cars or constructions equipment, Godwin offers a carrier to meet your needs. Carriers are available in lengths of 18' to 26' and come with a planetary winch, locking toolbox and other desirable features as standard equipment.
Grade 50 steel is probably the most commonly used material in the dump body industry. Grade 50 is ideal for general use bodies which aren't going to be used to haul highly abrasive and high impact materials such as boulders and demo materials. 50K is ideal for asphalt, sand, dirt, gravel, and other small aggregates. It's important to understand that all Grade 50 materials are not equal. Grade 50 steel is supposed to be 50,000 lbs minimum yield, though some body manufactures use uncertified secondary material that may be lesser quality. Godwin purchases only top quality "premium" mill certified Grade 50 steel. All of Godwin's Grade 50 steel is ASTM A1011 certified to ensure quality and consistency. To further enhance quality assurance, Godwin purchases their Grade 50 steel from an American ISO 9001:2000 certified mill. Godwin absolutely refuses to purchase secondary grade materials.
8/2/13 - Good Roads is celebrating a major anniversary this fall. The company was founded in 1878 after it became the inventor and patten holder of the the first four-wheeled pull grader. It wasn't until 1913 that Good Roads became a staple in the road machinery industry by making one of the most important snow removal contributions to date. Early century snow storms often crippled big cities. Snow was difficult and slow to clear from the narrow streets and alleyways with traditional animal drawn scrapers and hand shovels.
