About Golden Age ... Some of you may recognize my name -- John Reynolds -- from my time as the Vintage Instrument Manager for a well-known Staten Island vintage fretted instrument dealer. In January of 1999, after 8-1/2 years and with some regret, I gave notice, so that I would be free to start Golden Age Fretted Instruments, LLC.My goals here are to provide the same level of fine service which I was accustomed to supplying in my previous position, while offering a great selection of new guitars by some of today's finest builders, clean, original vintage collectible guitars and used utility instruments.Golden Age's focus has really shifted in recent years. While I still love clean and original vintage guitars, I have really developed a keen appreciation for modern hand crafted instruments. There has never been a time when more quality guitars are being built by individual luthiers than there are today - a real "Golden Age" of fretted instruments. There is something magical about observing the creative processes of the builders and watching their work evolve. I owe a debt of gratitude to all the luthiers I have met and from whom I have learned so much.
