Company History In 1972 George Golis embarked on a new adventure and started his own business, a machine shop. After working at Bendix Corporation for 19 years, he started his company in his basement with only a few customers supplying contracts for jobs. His first machines were two Swiss automatic screw machines, a Bridgeport and hand lathe. In 1978 George moved the business into a larger building on his property where it remained until March of 1998. In February of 1988 George retired and the business was incorporated. Daughter Rosemary and her husband, Will Franssen, became company officers, as well as George and his wife MayBelle. Since that time, Will and Rosemary have run the company as Plant Manager and Officer Manager, respectively. The first CNC machine was purchased in 1990, and the first out-of-family employee hired in 1991. Golis Machine Incorporated had a new facility built at the Montrose Area Industrial Development site and relocated in March of 1998. An addition was built in 2002, creating a 12,600 square foot building.
