9/16/2008 5:29:05 PM Goodman Decorating Company Changes Name after 80 years Goodman Decorating Company has been the preeminent painting and wallcovering contractor serving the commercial market in the United States for over 80 years. At its inception, the term decorating in the contracting business was all encompassing and was typical of many in the painting and wallcovering trade. But, as Goodman Decorating expanded its services to include drywall and acoustical tile, fabric panels, and other specialty services such as artistic finishes, a name change was required to help expand the public's view of the services they provide. "We knew we wanted to preserve the legacy of our grandfather's name and the reputation of our company that our father built, said Jeffrey Diamond, CEO of Goodman Decorating Company.

Our experience ranges from all types of Painting and Wallcovering to our Architectural Products Division, which offers Whisper Wall acoustical panel systems, our Fine Arts Division, including murals, faux finishes and plasters and artistic finishes, and our Drywall Division, which offers a complete line of wall and ceiling construction services geared to all of your projects specific needs. Beginning with budgeting and consultation needs and finishing with a quality, well managed project completed on time and in budget, our management, estimating, and operations staff is prepared for any challenge. From the smallest, “high-end” interiors finish project, to the larger complex interior or exterior wall and ceiling system project, Goodman stands ready to exceed expectations and has been doing so for more than 81 years.

Goodman was founded in 1927 by Harry I. Goodman. Leonard Diamond joined the business in 1951, and as the growth in Atlanta and the Southeast skyrocketed, Goodman grew along with it. Jeffrey Diamond joined the firm in 1984 and Richard Diamond joined in 1986. In 2000, they assumed the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Co-Presidents.

He wrote many articles and conducted seminars for a variety of industry affiliations. He served as a consultant to wallcovering manufactures for product testing, analysis and troubleshooting. He engaged in many civic and cultural endeavors including the Rotary Club of Atlanta and the Woodruff Arts Center.
