Goshen Students Create and Present an Original Work for the Theatre The Goshen Public Library's Page to Stage program is delighted to present "Popping Out of Pages." This original work was conceived and written entirely by students from Goshen as part of the Goshen Public Library's Page to Stage Program. The program allows students, ranging in age from 10 to 13, to adapt some of their favorite, classic stories for performance on the stage. That adaptation has taken a modern and personal bent for all of the young authors, bringing to life some characters that may sound familiar at first, but whose onstage actions and antics will have audiences howling with laughter. The seven young Goshen residents, along with their advisor and co-author John Alter of Washington, CT will portray their own versions of none other than Winnie the Pooh and his familiar friends, Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, John and Tinkerbell, Cinderella and her nemesis, Dorothy and a trio of Munchkins, Little "Red" Riding Hood, Rapunzel and her hair, some familiar kids from the Hogwarts School and even The Beatles. All of these familiar and classic characters have been brought to new life by the young authors themselves, both in the writing and revisions of the piece, and their performances of the roles. All throw themselves as wholeheartedly into their portrayals of these "cracked" fairytale characters as they did into the creation of them on the page. No silliness has been spared in the final product, making it a presentation to be enjoyed by the entire family. The authors/performers who will delight audiences with their original work on the 16th of August are Frank Bruno II, Sara Doherty, Isabel Exstein, Gabrielle Mondschein, Tom Pirotta, Anna Seidl and Keven Wheeler, all of Goshen. Mr. Bruno is a veteran of the 2008 Page to Stage program who recruited his friends Keven and Tom at the end of the school year. Seidl and her family are regular patrons of the library who thought this seemed like an interesting summer project for Anna. Another veteran of the 2008 program is Sara Doherty. All have worked in conjunction with Mr. Alter, an English teacher at the Gunnery School in Washington, CT and Lynn Barker Steinmayer of the Goshen Public Library, the program's coordinator. The one performance of this wonderfully original production, will take place at the Goshen Old Town Hall at the junction of Routes 4 and 63 in the center of Goshen. There is no cost for admission to the event, which begins at 4:00 pm.
