As Vice President of Community Development for the California Coastal Division of Lennar, I have engaged the services of GSI on two complex and controversial projects. Under the leadership of Carol McDermott, Coralee Newman and their team, Lennar obtained approval of the Newport Beach Planning Commission and City Council as well as the California Coastal Commission for a 79-unit luxury condo project in Newport Center overlooking the Newport Beach Country Club. The project was complex because of Coastal Commission reluctance to approve a residential project in a vistor-serving zone and because of concerns by the golf course operators regardng interface between golfers and residents. GSI managed the technical and political issues with City and Coastal staffs to develop creative mitigation which facilitated the approval process. We appreciate GSI's professionalism and strenuous efforts on behalf of Lennar and expect to utilize their services often. Concorida University is located in Irvine, in the community of Turtlerock, and sits between two groups of homes known as Concorida East and Concordia West. A successful community outreach program was critical to achieve city approval of our building proposal. GSI provided a strategic and thoughtful community issue program which included, interviews with homeowners, identification of key issues, recommendations for issue resolution, and production of all meeting flyers, agendas, and minutes. I would highly recommend GSI for any community outreach program and believe their approach is based on sound principles and years of experience in working with complex and often highly controversial projects. Scott, EdD Executive Vice President of the University Concordia University As President of ETCO Development, Incorporated, I engaged the services of GSI to direct the entitlement and community issues management for our bay front mixed use project in Newport Beach known as Newport Bay Marina. The project entails 27 residential units, 36,000 sf of retail, a parking structure and reconstruction of the existing marina on the site of a former shipyard. A very complex project, GSI also managed the technical and environmental issues with City and Coastal staffs to facilitate the approval process. We were issued our Coastal Development permit and we look forward to beginning construction. We have a great deal of confidence in GSI and look forward to utilizing their services in the future.
