Description

Great Land Trust is a private, non-profit land conservation organization founded in 1995 by residents of Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. We are working with willing landowners and other partners to conserve Southcentral Alaska's lands and waterways. The trust permanently and directly conserves lands and waterways essential to the quality of life and economic health of our communities.

We are happy to announce that we closed on three conservation easements on October 31st in the Mat-Su Borough. Each of these easements have been in the works for over 10 years and this year all this pieces came together. The 40 acre Dandy Lake easement donated by Rocky and Sue Goodwin will provide a permanent sanctuary for calving and wintering moose, migratory birds and offer important open space in the rapidly growing Palmer Fishhook Area. The 170 acre Lazy Mountain easement donated by Carol Montgomery, forever protects a significant wildlife corridor from the toe of the Chugach Mountains to the Matanuska River for moose, bear, wolves and lynx and provides spectacular nursery habitat for all five species of salmon.
