When our grandparents homesteaded on the prairies of Nebraska, wildlife was abundant and provided meat for their diets. Our parents were farmers, who liked to hunt with their siblings for a treat in the Fall. When we became farmers, we only hunted as a social outing with friends, but we decided to take advantage of programs to provide habitat for wildlife, as well as, promote soil conservation. When we decided to establish Nature's Rural Retreat in 2007, it was with the purpose of providing lodging for hunters and other nature lovers.
