Located in historic Spencer, North Carolina, across from the North Carolina Transportation Museum, the Green Goat Gallery was founded in 2002 by artists Cara Reische, her husband Jon Palmer, and Brent Smith to showcase their work and that of other local and regional artists. As life's passages began to occur the birth of a daughter for Cara and Jon, marriage for Brent and later the birth of his own daughter, the three decided to devote their time and energy to their families and their craft. Enter Anne and Andrew Waters. After moving to Salisbury in 2005 to be equidistant between their jobs in Winston-Salem and Charlotte, the couple decided that Anne would leave her position as vice president of sales and marketing to stay home and raise their newborn son, Elias. As Eli grew, it became time for Anne to rejoin the workforce so she decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge and combine her love of original art and craft with her passion for yoga. In 2007, shortly after graduating from the teacher certification program at Asheville Yoga Center, she and Andrew bought the gallery, rejuvenated its collection, and hosted a grand reopening of the Green Goat Gallery & Blue Ewe Yoga Studio. The art and crafts showcased at the Green Goat range from traditional to abstract. Hand carved wooden bowls and spoons can be found alongside elegant blown glass lamps, gourd thumbdrums, delicate hand-woven copper wire candle baskets, and recycled motherboard clocks. ...
