Greg H. Schlender is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Kansas with a B.A. in philosophy. While at the University of Kansas, he also earned an M.A. in economics, with distinction. Mr. Schlender was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Chicago Law School, generally acknowledged to be one of the five top law schools in the country. He graduated in the top 20% of his class. In 1978, Mr. Schlender was admitted to practice before all the courts in the State of Colorado, the United States Federal Court, and the United States Tax Court. He began his practice with Sherman & Howard, a 140-lawyer firm in Denver, Colorado, where he specialized in tax and estate planning. In 1984, Mr. Schlender moved his practice to Boulder, Colorado, where he was a partner at the 30-lawyer firm of Chrisman, Bynum and Johnson, P.C., for many years. He formed his own law firm in August 1996. Mr. Schlender's law practice is focused in the areas of advanced estate planning and tax law. Mr. Schlender has gained a reputation as a dynamic and entertaining speaker in the estate planning area and has spoken before numerous civic and private organizations, as well as public estate planning seminars. Mr. Schlender was a founding member of the Computer Division of the American Bar Association, an organization devoted to promoting the use of computers in the practice of law. In that capacity, he has held many offices, including Chair of the Estate Planning Practice Applications Users Group, and has published many articles on automated legal document drafting. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and a founding member of the American Association of Trust Estate and Elder Law Attorneys.
