Grip Golf Shoe Company was founded in 1997 by Jeff Sink, a seasoned and innovative footwear industry professional who believed that so-called "spikeless" were not the only -- and far from the best -- alternative to traditional metal-spiked golf shoes.With more than twenty-five years of hands-on footwear development experience, Jeff has received several patents and trademarks for his innovations in footwear design and materials. He has consulted with, and sold or licensed some of his ideas to Nike, Reebok, Rockport, L.A. Gear, K-Swiss, and other shoe companies. Jeff has also worked with a variety of shoe manufacturers around the world for over twenty years.In 1997, as several leading golf shoe companies started to adopt plastic cleats as an alternative to metal spikes, Jeff thought there might be a better solution. Based on his outsole design experience, he believed it would be possible to engineer a sole with no cleats that would provide traction as good as or better than alternative spiked shoes. He started experimenting with various ideas, and began testing prototypes of his spikeless Turf-Lok outsole technology.
