Description

Who Are You? Gronich Financial Services is a Registered Investment Advisory firm with offices in Houston and Manhattan. Chief Investment Advisor, Zachary D. Gronich, PFS takes a refreshing, scientific approach to retirement planning. Mr. Gronich holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Personal Financial Specialist. The AICPA has established the PFS credential for CPAs who specialize in personal financial planning (PFP). The Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential is granted exclusively to CPAs with considerable PFP experience who want to demonstrate their knowledge, skill, and experience by earning this exclusive credential. Zachary splits time between Texas and New York City with his wife, Laura, and their daughter, Alyssa. Why Do You Only Charge 0.10% Per Year? It's quite simple. The hard work is done. Mr. Gronich spent the better part of a year putting together our model portfolios for use by a network of CPAs, many years ago. The network of CPAs continues to use his portfolios in a number of CPA firms around the nation for their clients. At this point, we add our value by answering your questions (initial and on-going), monitoring your account for rebalancing possibilities, becoming the little angel that pops up on your shoulder to keep you from panic selling in the bad times, and giving you access to what we believe to be the best investment portfolios in America. Have Real People Invested Real Money In Your Portfolios? Despite what some of our fellow advisors have been saying about us, yes, all of our model portfolios have been in use by real investors using real money since January 2004. Gronich Financial Services has been using these model portfolios with real clients since July 2004 and CPA firms have been putting their clients into our portfolios since late 2004. What Is Your Investment Experience? Mr. Gronich was the only non-partner investment advisor for a large CPA firm in El Paso, Texas when he began working directly with Dimensional Fund Advisors and advisors from the academic and accounting worlds to develop the strategies and philosophies that became the basis for his model portfolios. Mr. Gronich has served as the Chief Investment Officer for a network of CPA firms since 2004. His model portfolios, presentations, and seminars have been used by CPA firms around the nation. Mr. Gronich also owns a consulting firm that has had a hand in over 350 investment advisory firms around the nation. Are There Hidden Fees? There are no hidden fees of any kind when you work with Gronich Financial Services. We get paid by one source, ever. You. We don't make a penny outside of our 0.10% annual fees from our clients and we're happy with that. It's the right thing to do. We figure that if we do our clients right, word will only spread further about our portfolios and services. We're trying to treat clients the way we would like to be treated; with honesty and respect. Do We Meet In Person? If you would like to arrange a face-to-face meeting in our office, we are happy to meet you. There's nothing we can't accomplish via phone, email, and/or fax; but we understand that this is your nest egg we're talking about here and you probably want to get to know the folks who are managing it. Each client will need to fill out a short questionnaire to gauge risk tolerance levels and expectations. We will discuss any situations, scenarios, and concerns you have until you are completely comfortable with our process. What Types of Accounts Can You Manage? Gronich Financial Services can offer our portfolios to individuals, joint accounts, family accounts, trusts, UGMA/UTMAs, IRAs, pension plans, 401(k)s, business cash balance plans, and existing annuities that need to be exchanged for DFA-based no-load annuities. If you have an account type that you don't see here, please contact us and we'll do everything possible to assist you. I Have Less Than $500,000 To Invest; Is That OK? We do have a $500,000 minimum to invest in our portfolios. If you are just below the minimum, give us a call and we can discuss your situation. If you are well below the minimum, unfortunately we cannot help you. Will You Be Personally Holding My Money/Assets? NEVER. You will write a check or transfer assets directly to a major custodian and will always have instant access from any computer to your account. Our current custodians of choice are TD Ameritrade for individual, joint, family, and small business accounts; FiServ for 401(k)s, pension plans, and other qualified business accounts; and AEGON for any annuity exchanges. These custodians only hold your assets and clear our trades. TD Ameritrade currently charges $24 per mutual fund trade, but because we are buy-and-hold, most accounts see no more than a total of 9 trades per year (which all generally happen when the account is opened). How Many DFA Funds Do You Utilize? Generally, we utilize 8 DFA funds to round out the equity side of our portfolios and 2 DFA funds for the fixed income side. When the situation arises and money market accounts are paying a reasonable interest rate, we will use those as the fixed income side of the equation instead of a bond-based DFA mutual fund. What About Tax-Managed Accounts? We use the same-name (or similar-name) DFA Tax-Managed mutual funds for those clients who have taxable accounts. The returns and risk characteristics are very similar, but not exactly the same as our non tax-managed portfolios. To see the performance numbers, please contact us. I've Put Together My Own DFA Portfolios; Can You Just Buy Those For Me? Unfortunately, no. We are not a DFA convenience store. We evaluate each client individually and will suggest a model portfolios (or a slight variation of) for each person, but we simply cannot act as a "cheap and easy way for everyone to create their own DFA portfolios." If you are already in DFA and would like to maintain those portfolios, we are open to that. Can You Explain the Science Behind Your Portfolios? If you've seen most of the DFA-based advisors' websites, you know that this is where most folks try to put you to sleep with the math and science of how our portfolios were built using 3-dimensional spreadsheet matrices and how the three-factor model was used in conjunction with major league statistics to build scientifically-driven portfolios. I've found over the years that 99% of the investors out there don't care about learning the math and science as long as they are assured that we understand it. If you'd like to go over the science and statistics of our models, Mr. Gronich will be happy to explain to you how he built the matrices and back tested our model portfolios over 70+ years of data to provide the most optimal portfolios based not only on returns, but also on the reduction of risk and volatility. Mr. Gronich will be happy to explain why he doesn't think standard deviation is as important as most people want you to believe and he'll be thrilled to show you what real risk and real volatility are (and how they relate to you specifically).
