Description

I first began playing guitar at age 12. I was hooked. I studied privately for about 4 years from a wonderful teacher Irving Kessler. After that I jumped from band to band, learning whatever I could and began playing piano along the way. Getting deeper involved in improvisational music, I studied with jazz greats Lee Konitz, Hal Galper, and Jack Wilkins. Later, Jack Wilkins and I designed the guitar program at DCI in NYC (the company known for music instruction videos). I taught at DCI for a couple of years, while continuing to teach students at my home studio. Through the years of teaching, I never stopped playing professionally. I began to compose and produce music for T.V., documentary and corporate video projects. I have been fortunate to receive awards for my work, including an Emmy Nomination for my score to "Beyond The Wall" (a documentary on professional bicycle racing). In 1999, one of my compositions, a "Christmas Prayer", was a Finalist winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Festival. Finalists were chosen out of over 1000 contestants in the gospel/inspirational category. In addition to my teaching schedule, I continue to compose, produce, and perform. You can see me perform locally, playing every Wed. 6:30 - 10:00 at Mediterraneo, a very fine restaurant in Pleasantville (Cooley St. 773-1020). Hope to see you there.
