"Yogi Bear" Live-Action Movie for Christmas - Posted by Ryan on October 3rd 2010 If you haven't already heard by now, Warner Bros. Pictures is planning to release a live-action/CGI hybrid "Yogi Bear" film just around Christmas of this year. The movie will feature Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Yogi and Justin Timberlake as the voice of Boo Boo. Sounds awful, doesn't it? The movie's being directed by Eric Brevig, whose directioral resume consists of only 2008's "Journey to the Center of the Earth," which in all honesty wasn't that bad. This really could go either way but after the severe misfires with the "Scooby-Doo" and "Flintstones" films, I have a feeling this is not going to go well at all. Also, the film will be released in 3D, just to make sure the studio can milk every last red cent out of the audience. And apparently, a new Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote 3D cartoon will premiere before the movie. Here's the poster: You can watch the trailers at IMDb . Be on the look out for new updates at HB Shows.com. I have some very special "Flintstones" and "Jonny Quest" updates in the works and hopefully after that, some "Yogi" stuff to coincide with the movie. "Pirates of Dark Water" and "Thundarr" DVDs - Posted by Ryan on October 2nd 2010 There's some good news on the Hanna-Barbera DVD front! As part of Warner Home Video's Warner Archive Collection , complete series sets have been released for both "Pirates of Dark Water" and "Thundarr the Barbarian," both under the Hanna-Barbera Classics Collection (despite the fact that "Thundarr" is a Ruby-Spears production). However, these sets are manufactured on an on-demand fashion and will not be available in stores. They are available for sale exclusively on the WB Shop website. This is the same situation as the similar release of "Yogi's First Christmas," but for some reason, that you could buy from Amazon.com, as well. Both series sets are priced at $29.95 for four discs and 21 episodes each. Thanks to TV Shows on DVD for the news and pictures. For info can be found there for both "Pirates" and "Thundarr." Happy 50th Anniversary Flintstones! - Posted by Ryan on September 30th 2010 Today, September 30, 2010, marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of one of Hanna-Barbera's most enduring, popular, and groundbreaking programs, "The Flintstones," which had its start 50 years ago on ABC at 8:30pm. I realize HB Shows.com hasn't been active in quite some time, but I hope to change that very soon. I have some big things planned, but it's going to take some time. In the meantime, take some time out and watch a "Flintstones." It's their day after all. Even Google is celebrating: R.I.P. Arnold Stang (1918-2009) - Posted by Ryan on December 23rd 2009 On Sunday, December 20, 2009, actor and comedian Arnold Stang passed away at the age of 91. Mr. Stang succumbed to pneumonia. Working alongside the likes of Frank Sinatra and Milton Berle over the course of a 60 year career, Mr. Stang was also a player for Hanna-Barbera Studios in the voice acting industry, most recognizable as the lead voice on the 1961-62 series "Top Cat" where he played the Phil Silvers/Sgt. Bilko inspired character.
