Mission Drive San Gabriel, California 91776 (626) 286-2144 Executive Director - Cheryl Prentice La Casa is a family resource center located in the City of San Gabriel (a suburb of Los Angeles and the city with a MISSION) and services approximately 4500 clients per year, ranging from infants to the elderly. During its 51years of service, La Casa has and continues to serve its neighbors, primarily Hispanic and Native American working poor of the West San Gabriel Valley, in their efforts to overcome the barriers of underemployment, poverty, language, inadequate housing, limited education and lack of medical care. As a resource, advocate and service provider, La Casa seeks to strengthen the development of individual and families who are then socially, educationally, and economically able to more fully participate in society and to enjoy a satisfied quality of life. Programs and services of La Casa include a bilingual, bicultural (English-Spanish) nursery school, English classes, Spanish literacy, parenting classes in English and Spanish, computer classes for low-educational attain, adults, a woman's resource project, emergency assistance, domestic violence referrals, crisis intervention, immigration advocacy, employment referrals and resource and referral.
