After stints at The Topeka Capital Journal and The Denver Post newspapers, he has been affiliated with Sports Illustrated magazine for over 20 years. Among the major sports events you might spot Damian are: The World Series, The NCAA Basketball Tournament, The World Cup, The Stanley Cup, The Olympics, and the past 27 Super Bowls. His work has been featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated 70 times. Honored in many photo contests, Damian has received awards from Pictures of the Year, Missouri University’s POYi, The National Headliners Awards, and The Pro Football Hall of Fame. His work is exhibited at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Year-end Portfolio Review process represents the culmination of a student's 10-month professional photography training at Hallmark. During the Portfolio Review process, the review panel will critically analyze each individual student portfolio to determine whether or not it possesses the necessary technical and artistic skills that qualify the student for employment in field of professional photography and imaging. Students will receive in-depth commentary from each of the panelists as to the areas of strength and weakness represented in his or her portfolio. Upon successful completion of the year-end portfolio process, the student qualifies for a Certificate of Completion from Hallmark. The panel members, celebrity and advertising photographer Andrew Eccles , award-winning wedding photographer Scott Zuehlke , award-winning commercial photographer Simon Alexander , each exemplify the top of his or her individual imaging disciplines. These three panelists, along with Hallmark's artist-in-residence Gregory Heisler , will provide feedback during a 30-minute round-table discussion with each student.

Please join us as we welcome Sam Abell to speak at Hallmark on Wednesday May 28th starting at 1:00pm. Sam Abell has worked with the National Geographic Society since 1970 and is one of the more overtly artistic photographers among his magazine peers. He has lectured on photography and exhibited his images to audiences throughout the world. Sam is widely known as a speaker that will tell an involving story with a quiet, compelling demeanor. His philosophy regarding the meaning of photography in our lives will resonate with everyone who hears him.
