For over 75 years, Hambidge has quietly been the source of inspiration for many who bring art and science into our lives. Each year over 100 exceptionally talented individuals call our 600-acre creative sanctuary home. They write, draw, dance, sing, paint, weave, design, develop and create significant works of imagination that challenge us and move us all forward.

You will need to bring all the equipment and supplies necessary to do your personal work. We provide work tables and chairs in the studios, but we do not provide professional easels. We have some student grade easels available, but if you require something heavier, you're advised to bring one with you. If you will be painting, we ask that you bring your own drop cloths and that you try to avoid getting paint on the walls. We very often have Fellows who ship materials to us prior to their arrival and we are happy to accept and hold them.

For the last several years Art Rosenbaum has worked with younger singers in the Around the Globe Sea Chantey Singers who have sung chanteys, the fine work songs from the great age of sail, mostly at the Globe pub in Athens; but occasionally at venues like the Ships of the Sea Museum in Savannah, and at the Charleston SC Maritime Festival. Most of the singing is a cappella, and the group sings several Southern chanteys of the cotton-shipping ports which blend African American and Yankee/British traditions.
