On June 12, 2008, The Scoular Company purchased the assets of Hancock Elevator, Incorporated which was founded in Hancock, Iowa in 1985 and served producers in more than six southwest Iowa counties. The acquisition included 14 Iowa grain-handling facilities located in Avoca, Elliott, Elk Horn, Emerson, Griswold, Hancock, Harlan, Hastings, Neola, Oakland, Persia, Portsmouth, Shelby, and Walnut. The acquired truck and rail locations are part of Scoular’s growing North American corn and soybean origination network. Scoular's operation of Hancock Elevator's former facilities brought a more direct level of market opportunity to area producers.
