Description

What is hang gliding? Hang gliding is the closest a human can get to soaring, bird-like flight. It is flying without a motor; a quiet, simple, and beautiful experience. The hang glider itself is a non-motorized wing that can be foot launched or towed aloft. The glider has a rigid anodized aluminum frame that maintains the shape of the wing. The wing is constructed out of sailcloth, mylar, and dacron. How safe is hang gliding? Hang gliding is as safe as the individual makes it. Like any form of sport aviation, hang gliding requires careful training and execution.

Welcome and thank you for choosing Lookout Mountain! You are becoming a part of a school that has been teaching hang gliding for over 30 years. We are here full time, year round for you. This is not a part time gig. We are dedicated to getting you safely in the air.

Here at Lookout, we have all of the new, up-to-date equipment to keep you safe in the air! We sell new and used hang gliders for every skill level! Getting your own equipment is an important step to progressing as a pilot and to flying as much as possible. We specialize in custom gear as well! Check out what we have to offer!

Bunkhouse Our bunkhouse is the ultimate in student housing. We provide clean linens. The shared bathroom and hot shower are at the end of the hall. There is heat and air conditioning provided. The bunk house is co-ed and each bunk has its own privacy curtain. The deck outside is a great place to watch the action while pilots soar the sky over Lookout Mountain. There are between 9-14 bunks available depending on the season.
