Hanson Valley Sod is a division of Don and Kathy Hanson's well diversified North Dakota farm. The family farm has been in operation in the Hillsboro, ND community for three generations. Until recently, the major farm operation has consisted of growing wheat, barley, sugar beets, soybeans and corn. In the spring of 2000, we seeded our first field of grass for sod. Because the growth was good, we made our first small scale harvest in the spring of 2001. We continued at a small scale into 2003. The sod harvested the first two years was cut by a small roll harvester.
