Founded one-half century ago, Harrison has evolved from a small local hospital into one of the region's busiest medical centers. Our not-for-profit institution now cares for patients from Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson, and Clallam counties at campuses in East Bremerton, Silverdale, and Port Orchard.Harrison boasts an impressive range of specialties, services, and programs. Our staff consists of over 1,400 employees. More than 300 physicians are affiliated with us and approximately 80 percent of these doctors are board-certified, a figure which ranks well above the national average. Around 44,000 people are seen by emergency services staff annually, making Harrison one of the state's busiest ERs.As a community hospital, Harrison's direction is guided by a volunteer board of directors. These civic activists reside within Kitsap County and together decide new hospital services, having first determined local needs. As Harrison has for many decades served as the countyís only civilian hospital, such analysis represents an important responsibility. An hour's ferry ride from Seattle, the state's largest city, Kitsap County currently numbers 230,000 residents.
