Hawk Internet Services has heard your cries for help in the war against spam! Starting June 2nd, all email will be filtered for possible spam and will also be checked for viruses**.It is imperative that we understand the complexity of filtering spam. In simplest form, we are asking a "dumb" computer to determine if an email message is indeed spam or if it is something we really want to read. To do this, a set of rules are defined and the filtering device uses these rules to try to determine if each message should be delivered. Yes, there is still a possibility some spam will make it through to your mailbox. To report such spam, forward the message with complete headers to fightspam@hawkpci.net. There is also a possibility that legitimate email will be filtered. This may include any mailing lists to which you might be subscribed. To prevent the loss of such email you have two options. First, you can choose not to have your mailbox filtered. Second, you can use the quarantine manager to browse the messages not being delivered for legitimate email periodically. Using the quarantine manager, you can choose to disable filtering as well as browse the list of messages not being delivered and take action upon those messages. You can also use the quarantine manager to adjust the tolerance level of the filter on your mailbox and maintain a list of trusted and blocked senders. When using a senders list, all other filtering is bypassed, including virus detection, and the email is sent directly to your mailbox for trusted senders or sent directly to your quarantine for blocked senders.
