Description

The school offers counseling, language and speech and transition services by appropriately licensed/credentialed staff. Transportation is available to students who fall within the routes provided by the school, and other transportation arrangements can be made when necessary. Hawthorne Academy actively pursues preparing students for mainstreaming back into public schools, occupational centers, community colleges, and jobs within the community. We provide work experience on our campus working in the school office, school lunch program, janitorial program and assisting teachers.

Hawthorne Academy provides tuition reimbursement for teachers who are participating in a state approved special education program. We provide our staff with opportunities to participate in LAUSD and other district trainings and workshops. We al so provide ongoing on-site training in instruction, curriculum, and positive behavioral support. All of our staff are Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) trained and certified and have opportunities to receive CPR and First Aid which are offered throughout the year. We have weekly staff meetings and monthly minimum day in-services. Staff also participate in outside conferences.
