Description
As a professional breeder, for over 10 years we have been asked time and time again “what do we feed and recommend”? I decided to not only recommend our feeding program but to become a distributor of Flint River Ranch dog food, that’s how much I like it.!
In general, foods will spoil without some form of temperature control or preservatives. BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin are chemical antioxidants designed to extend the shelf life and reduce fat spoilage (rancidity) of pet foods and pet treats. Chemical additives and artificial preservatives such as BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin may cause dry skin, allergic reactions, dental disease, and poor health, as well as stimulate adverse effects on liver and kidney functions.
The testing and evaluation process requires about 18 months. At this time, we are confident of the formula’s nutritional quality and our production controls. The final production is brought to the consumer market with continued monitoring of any challenges. We utilize standard formulas that are not changed, regardless of ingredients pricing. For example, our oven-baked dog food has a 10 year history of customer satisfaction and demonstrated results in health and lifestyle.
WHY 23% PROTEIN? It is not the amount of protein in a dog food that is important, it is the type of protein and how easily it can be digested. The protein is the right amount for all stages of life. In some cases of working dogs or dogs under high stress, you can consider adding meat protein. BAKING TEMPERATURES: Any cook can mix ingredients—the secret is in the total cooking process. This is one of the reasons our food is not easily duplicated by other manufacturers.
I quite often get asked the question by clients as well as my distributors as to why there is not a separate puppy formula in your product line. To be quite honest, it was a question in the back of my mind as well when I became a distributor. I have raised several litters of puppies on most of the well known premium brands of puppy food and this summer raised my first Flint River litter. I purposefully did not supplement with other puppy food or use supplements other than yogurt and vitamin C, to determine for myself if the regular formula was adequate for weaning and growing puppies.
