Description

Haztraining.com is edited and maintained by Jerry Green. Mr. Green has been involved in dangerous goods transportation since 1977 at many different levels. The 33 years of experience are culminated in this website. From 1977-1987, Mr. Green worked in air freight forwarding in operations and sales. He served as a dangerous goods inspector during most of that period. From 1987-1990, he was employed by a major US passenger airline in customer service. From 1990-1995, he worked under a government contract in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Most of the contract involved the development and delivery of training courses involving the transport of radioactive materials. It was during this period that Mr. Green served as an Associate Staff member at the US DOT Transportation Safety Institute, where he developed and taught the initial TSI course based on the ICAO Technical Instructions. In 1995, Mr. Green became a consultant on dangerous goods issues, which continues to this day. Most of his time is spent in training in the actual classroom. This training is provided for a host of commercial and government clients. He teaches approximately 300 days a year, and has kept this pace for the last 11 years. In addition, he performs compliance audits and assists other trainers in the development of training materials. He states: I wanted to create an online resource which serves as an alternative to many of the websites on the Internet. Many of them do not go into enough depth, and unfortunately are not always maintained (broken links, dated material, useless graphics that slow your system down). And many of them are not edited by actual trainers. The other thing that is missing from many sites is the I I have learned in the classroom over the last 20 years that you can have the most brilliant presentation that will go nowhere if you don't add credible work projects. I've learned that if you don't involve the participant early on, you will not be able to determine if they are grasping the subject. Each work project and test will be evaluated with communication between myself and the individual student. Your projects will not be examined by a computer, but rather by a human being. So this is not going to be a race, but an event which is designed to ensure that you emerge from the modules more comfortable and confident in a complex subject.
