This course is designed to provide nurses and other Neonatal Intensive Care Unit staff with the skills required to provide mindful, caring touch and basic massage to infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Using demonstrations, experiential exercises, lectures and group sharing, participants learn a mindful, compassionate approach to caring touch in working with these fragile newborns.

Volunteers with the International Outreach Program to Cambodia work with HIV infected children in four facilities run by New Hope for Cambodian Children . All the children have been orphaned or abandoned.

This two and a half-day course prepares certified massage therapists and licensed healthcare personnel to use mindful, therapeutic touch skills to work with medically complex infants and children. This is a required training for those who volunteer at one of our partner hospitals or pediatric hospice. The training will also be useful for parents and caregivers who wish to increase their skills for working with those in their care.

Two Heart Touch facilitators will travel to an offsite location to teach the foundational course Heart Touch Technique Training. This 2-1/2 day training is designed to prepare certified massage therapists, body workers, and other medically licensed healthcare professionals to provide compassionate caring touch to individuals at the end of life. Using demonstrations, experiential exercises, lectures and group sharing, participants learn a mindful, compassionate approach to caring touch in working with individuals in hospital settings.

Our next Children’s Program training for this year is scheduled for Friday, May 16-18, 2014. Massage for Pediatric Patients prepares volunteers to provide massage and caring touch to babies and children at our partner hospitals and hospice.
