Heartland Power Cooperative is operated as a non-profit company. This means that all money left over after the cost of providing electric service is returned to the members in the form of capital credits. When Heartland Power is unable to locate former members, their capital credits become unclaimed property. The State of Iowa allows Heartland Power to distribute the unclaimed capital credits to area schools in the form of scholarships. Heartland Power provides one $500 scholarship to each school in our service area.

Our vision is to be the provider of choice for energy and services by all consumers. Our primary purpose is to provide electrical energy and other services that enhance the quality of life of our members and the economic and social well-being of the region at the lowest possible cost consistent with sound economic and management decisions.

Heartland Power Cooperative has access to certified energy managers with years of experience in providing a wide variety of energy management solutions to commercial, agricultural and industrial businesses. We identify cost savings opportunities, recommend customized solutions and provide assistance in implementing energy efficiency improvements.
