Description

Mark Helder's main interests are developing and implementing sustainable design with a high design standard. He is committed to bringing energy-efficient, environmentally responsible housing to the high-end as well as the lower income and affordable housing sector. In addition to designing sustainable housing, Mark's past projects include private homes, several not-for-profit spaces (including an art house movie theater), multi family complexes, and commercial spaces. In 1998, Mark started his own company, Helder Design, in the Netherlands and expanded the studio to New York in 2002. The work of Helder Design has been exhibited in the South-Eastern Center for Contemporary Design in South Carolina, Gallery 312 in Chicago, the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and the AIA Center for Architecture in New York City.
