My vision for western Massachusetts is a thriving community, with a prudent marriage of business interests and environmental concerns, agriculture and tourism, with good jobs for a well prepared workforce. We need to put more effort into educating our young, and we need to help senior citizens cope with rising costs on a fixed income. I see us as self sufficient, with more self rule and fewer restrictions and mandates passed down by Boston. It's time for us to seize the day, show our strength, and lead Massachusetts into the future. The time for western Massachusetts is now. This takes innovative leadership, a progressive leader with a proven record of business success, and one with a history of vision and collaboration. I am that candidate. I will work to leverage our current position to get businesses and business services to western Mass. We need access to capital, we need Boston-based firms to work with us to create satellite offices here. This is a win-win situation, with those firms taking advantage of lower business and housing costs, and western Mass getting good jobs and a desperately needed economic boost. Why should Boston businesses send jobs overseas when we have a readily available and educated workforce right here?
