Henderson Chamber will move locations on Feb. 1 The Henderson-Henderson County Chamber of Commerce will have a new home next year. The chamber, which has maintained an office in the old Union Bank and Trust building at 201 N. Main St. for the last 15 years, will move to a suite on the third floor of the Citi-Center Building at 230 Second St. in late January. The new office will officially open on Feb. 1. "This is the start of a new and exciting chapter in the chamber's long history here," said Jennifer Keach, community relations manager for Big Rivers Electric Corp. and chairperson of the chamber's board of directors. "In many ways the new location will enable us to better fulfill our mission of helping members and being an ambassador organization for Henderson and Henderson County." Ty Rideout, owner of ABBA Promotions, chaired the chamber's relocation committee and said the decision to move wasn't an easy one, especially considering the generosity of the Union Bank and Trust building's owner, Dr. Thomas Logan. "For 15 years Dr. Logan gave the chamber a heavily discounted lease rate," Rideout said. "Our current lease expires in January, so last summer we began to look for a new location." "Greg was planning to refurbish offices on the third floor anyway, but when we agreed to move the chamber to Cit-Center he allowed us to pick out the new carpet and paint that would go in our space," Chamber President Brad Schneider said. "The end result is going to be an office of which we can all be proud, one that projects a professional image that will reflect well on our community. And thanks to Greg, Lisa, Stanley and Tracy, the project will fit in our budget." Rideout said the only criteria immediately agreed upon by members of the relocation committee was that the chamber office should remain downtown. When Citi-Center owner Greg Jones became aware the chamber was in the market for a new office, he approached Rideout with an attractive offer. "We looked at several properties downtown that for one reason or another wouldn't quite work," Rideout said. "But what Greg was able to provide - in the financial considerations, the quality and look of the space and the Citi-Center's prominence - was a deal we couldn't pass up." The chamber has enlisted the help of chamber members Lisa Keith, owner of Lisa Keith Interiors and Hoffman House; Stanley Shields, owner of Business Equipment; and Tracy Benson, owner of Tri-State Custom Closets; to give the new office a fresh and inviting appearance An open house is planned for the new location, but a date has yet to be set. The chamber's new address will be 230 Second St., Suite 320, Henderson KY 42420. The office phone and fax numbers will remain the same. The chamber's final day at its current location will be Jan. 29. Call 826-9531 for more information.
