In November 2013, a South Dakota jury found that Johnson & Johnson, a prominent manufacturer of talcum powder products, failed to warn consumers of the link between ovarian cancer and the use of talc-based body powder for feminine hygiene. In fact, a New York Times article published in 1982 on the possible link between talc usage and ovarian cancer suggests that Johnson & Johnson was aware that women may be three times as likely to develop ovarian cancer if they used talcum powder on their genitals.
