Description
Hernando County was granted $3 million from the State of Florida for an environmental education and tourism center. The County has agreed to match this grant dollar-for-dollar to create a concept called the Nature Coast Experience. The County is working with the Southwest Florida Water Management District, owner of the Weekiwachee Preserve, to potentially locate it on a small, previously mined area of that site. Our goal is to provide a high-quality, educational and nature-based experience while protecting the natural resources that led to the acquisition of the Weekiwachee Preserve.
