The Asia regional office for EDC's Health and Human Development Programs (HHD) is based in Bangkok, Thailand. Established in 2003, the work in Asia is consistent with HHD's overall mission to create innovations that promote healthy human development worldwide. HHD's Asia office focuses on health promotion and disease prevention concerning HIV and AIDS, especially for orphans and vulnerable children; school health; workplace health, especially for migrant workers; and safety and disaster relief. Ms. Angela Chen is directing HHD's regional programs in Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, China, Taiwan, and India. Our expertise includes participatory needs assessment, project design and management, technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership formation. We create partnerships with public and private sectors. The essence of our work is knowledge transfer among stakeholders and partners in development and capacity building. We work with a range of partners and donors, including local not-for-profit organizations, government and U.N. agencies, universities, foundations, and corporations, to enhance learning, promote health, and improve livelihoods. EDC/HHD's Asia office contributes to these goals by designing and implementing two types of programs: (1) development projects and (2) consulting projects.
