Description
In 1928 H. C. Hilford owned and operated a furniture store in Ventura... To deliver the furniture he sold, he purchased a truck, one of the few in town. His customers frequently borrowed the truck when they moved, leading to his conclusion that a moving business was the way to go. During the 1930s, the primary business was the store, but the moving business slowly grew. In 1947, Hilford Moving & Storage became an agent for Allied Van Lines, the leader in the national and worldwide moving industry, who, as a matter of interest, was also founded in 1928.
