In the beginning the needs were clear. Agencies needed to adapt to rapid changes in technology, fundraising needed to diversify by developing funding sources other than government grants, and the Latino community needed a unified voice. The Hispanic Federation embraced these challenges and continues to forge ahead through troubling times when individuals and programs need even more. The Hispanic Federation (HF) was founded in 1990 to strengthen, support, and develop institutions that advance the quality of life for Latino New Yorkers. Fifteen years later, the HF advocates for increased comprehensive health and human services in the Hispanic community within the northeast region. Hispanic health and human service providers continue to face budget cuts and employment cutbacks while dealing with increased workloads. In other words, there's more to be done with less resources.
