Description
Founded in 1986 to sell Central Office Switching Equipment to the secondary market, Hitech initially served as a broker of circuit products to a variety of clients nationwide. Two years later, the company began testing and modifying circuits in-house, moving from pure broker to provider of quality-tested and refurbished products. Hitech also designed and contracted with Bell Atlantic (predecessor to Verizon) for the first profit-sharing program between a Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC) and a reuse vendor. The first of its kind, this program had a permanent and profound impact on the secondary marketplace. Over the next two years, Hitech received several major regional contracts with companies such as Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell for the surplus consignment and subsequent resale of their telecom equipment. Major investments in its test and repair laboratory during the 1990s helped Hitech became an industry leader in the plug-in circuit secondary marketplace. In 1995, Hitech became the first secondary market supplier to test and repair AT&T's DDM-1000 technology for an RBOC. Over the next few years, the Hitech's testing and repair operation set a new industry standard for quality in the secondary market. Hitech sold its plug-in sales division in 2000 and greatly expanded the Hardwire Removal Sales and Remanufacturing division. In the following year, Hitech strengthened its position in the nationwide central office removal and engineering industry when it acquired ETI, a West Virginia-based provider of these services on the East Coast. Hitech has used the recent dramatic downturn in the telecom industry as an opportunity to improve its ISO 9001:2000 process, expand its engineering and removal capability, and revitalize its hardwire and network systems sales division. The company was recently awarded the EF & I Recognition Certificate in the AT & T required world-class level of performance program for service excellence in quality, on-time delivery, process-compliance, and weighted average performance. Its remarkable record of achievement reflects Hitechs full preparedness to handle the unique challenges in today's environment within the telecom marketplace. In fact, Hitech revenues in 2009 were up 40% from the previous year, testimony to an experienced, industry savvy, management team. Hitech's commitment to quality in its products and services has set a standard in the telecom marketplace for 25 years – one that will serve as a continuing benchmark well into the future.
