Hobby Engineering opened its web site in December 2002 and has been growing by leaps and bounds to become a leading supplier of robotic and electronic supplies for hobbyist, students and researchers. We are now in our third physical location with a 2000 square foot warehouse and a 700 square foot retail store on a busy shopping thoroughfare. We are always looking for good people who can contribute to Hobby Engineering and to our community.

Here at Hobby Engineering we think that building is an essential skill for everyone. It teaches us subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) lessons about the physical world that aren't taught in science class. Building also helps develop (or maintain) fine motor skills and logical thought processes. Building teaches important lessons about life such as how to do research and experimentation, how to manage complex tasks, how to deal with frustration and how to ask for help.

This is a quick summary of our return and warranty policy: Unopened items can be returned for a full refund of the product price within 30 days of the delivery date. Opened electronic components and electronics kits are not returnable. Other opened products can be returned for a partial refund within 30 days of the item's delivery date. Most products are covered by own 60 day limited warranty protecting you from manufacturing defects including missing parts. This warranty is extremely limited for electronic components including electronic kits. This warranty does not apply to assembly errors.

No, the headline is not a late April Fools Day joke. Back around the year 2000 I was recruited to be the developer for what turned out to be a dot-bomb start-up. The two finance guys managed to snag $300K of angel financing and I set about to single-handedly build the prototype of a system intended to beat the telephone monopolies at their own game. Yeah. It was a fool's errand. But that's not my point. The day after we signed our $300K deal we read an article about a company at the other end of Silicon Valley getting $50M in venture capital financing for a similar product.
